Mother’s Day was a blast this year. Arabella picked out these beautiful flowers for me and a cute card that John said she deliberated over for a while.
Arabella sang “Happy Mother’s Day to You” to the tune of “Happy Birthday” which was pretty amazing. Camden attempted to join in the song too. Heart melted!
We also had some good friends over who moved away this week. We were pregnant at the same time and had our boys pretty close together. We’ve prayed each other through some crazy stuff and had some fun times together. It is bittersweet knowing it’s a good move for them, but also knowing we will miss them dearly.
Meals for the Week
Grilled Balsamic Chicken, Sundried Tomato and Goat Cheese Pasta – used leftover chicken from our cookout
Grilled Balsamic Chicken Salad – used leftover chicken from our cookout
Thursday – Appetizer Night with friends
Homemade Guacamole, Queso, Salsa and Chips
Sugar Cookie Fruit Pizza with strawberries, raspberries and kiwi
Leftover Sesame Chicken, Fried Rice (made from the jasmine rice) and Broccoli
Continuing on with our Garden Theme, we are working our way through Arabella’s notebook that has tracing pages, mazes, finding the different items, math and writing exercises. These are from 2 Teaching Mommies.
This is a page that I cut out the pieces, and Arabella had to determine which items plants need and which one they don’t. We had a good laugh about plants needing pizza.
Here’s a counting clip card.
She is really good at eye balling the smaller numbers now without counting each one. Using clothes pins develops her fine motor skills.
Arabella loves to play on PBSkids.org. This is a great website for pre-schoolers to learn pre-reading, early math skills and science. They have a parent section too that is very helpful. It seems never ending when you start looking at everything in it.
Camden also likes to climb up in the chair and look at John’s computer. The other day he pulled up a video of Arabella from our video library. We are going to have to keep an eye on him!
We did a lot of cooking this week. Camden even got in some time with me. Check out this blog post to see him in action.
Arabella helped with our Mother’s Day/Going Away Party Feast. These are seriously the best potatoes ever! They are My Dad’s Famous Grilled Potatoes.
We also made a chocolate pie. Arabella likes helping because she gets to lick the spoon.
Look at this cute face!
I found an old bag of frozen bananas when I cleaned out the freezer, so we decided to make my Mom’s Banana Nut Bread.
She was being really cute with Camden who was on the floor and actually not fussing and wanting to help too. We have to take turns a lot these days.
Camden found the last piece of Banana Nut Bread while helping me cook something else this week.
We are observing our garden as it grows. I will be posting soon about how we made our raised bed.
Arabella likes to help water.
We played badminton, or at least tried to.
She likes to try even if we can’t get a back and forth game going.
John helped do a video shoot for our church that involved grilling.
Here’s our friend Bobby shooting the video.
Here is some of the final product. There was ribs and chicken too!
Camden likes to help me with my photo shoots.
He takes his job seriously.
I joined Food Blogger Pro this week, and it has been so helpful with figuring out what I need to do next with my blog. John even got excited and went on to learn some stuff, so he could start working on my blog. This is pure romance in my book!
It looks like we do a lot from this post, but sometimes we just paint our nails…
…sit around like princesses and watch a movie…
..or pretend we’re in an Anthropologie ad. Ha Ha!
Hope you had a great week!
