Weekly Recap – June 28, 2014

This week hasn’t been the most productive in our life.  I’m sure that will make a lot of you feel better about your own life.  We all have our ups and downs…and then there’s teething!  Camden is getting some more molars, and we are all hoping that the end is in sight.  My kids don’t do middle of the night waking with their teeth much, but they do wake up at 5 or 6 (or 4:30) in the morning.  It makes for a tired mama who doesn’t really want to do “school stuff” with Arabella when Camden is napping.  We did, however, have one productive day.

We are still using the Pirate Pre-K Pack from Over the Big Moon.  I have been working with Arabella on her cutting skills.  She was discouraged for a while because she thought it was too hard.  She was pleasantly surprised that she was better at it than the last time.  Yay for developing fine motor skills!

This was a patterning exercise that required her choosing the right piece that followed in the pattern to glue down.

Arabella has loved puzzles and been doing this one since she was 2 years old.  Yes, we have a video to prove it.  She decided it was time for Camden to learn to do it too.  Not surprisingly, he wasn’t quite ready for it.  Every kid is different in the way they develop with their strengths and weaknesses.  He had fun trying though, and she was was very supportive and encouraging.  I am really enjoying watching their relationship develop as Camden gets older, and they can play more together.  It’s so sweet!

Our vegetables are starting to grow in our garden…finally!  I’ll have an update on that soon.

Mostly, we’ve just played around and had some snuggly time.  That’s the stuff that stimulates their little brains to learn anyway.  We have been counting while we play and talking about colors with Camden.  He counts with us sometimes, and I’m shocked.  Their little brains are ready to soak up everything, and it absorbs better when having some fun.

Have some fun with your kids this week and watch them learn.  This is my final thought for the week!

Hope your having some fun with your kids this week!
